Online Movie Review:
So, what the hell happened to Dead Like Me airing on Showtime? How could a popular show get cut down in its prime? I got an explanation from a nameless person who was very connected at Showtime; Showtime wanted a hit like HBO's The Sopranos. They figured by axing Dead Like Me, a popular, but expensive show on their network, they could free up enough money to create two new shows in the hopes that one of them would become a stellar hit. While Dead Like Me did very well for the network, they wanted something more popular. This is how the networks think, and it sucks. They killed a brilliant show in favor of something else, and it sucks! Fans had hopes that MGM would be able to shop the show around to another network, but no one picked it up, and it's as dead as the reaper stars. How sad.
The extras on this set were better than the first, though there weren't many of them. I was hoping for some kind of commentary track, or interview talking about the cancellation of the show, but there isn't anything like that here. The menus look nice, but they're functionality is crippling. It shouldn't take three-clicks of the "Enter" button to start an episode of a show; the first screen is a complete waste of space on the first three discs. I don't understand why they couldn't have included the fourth disc extras on the same screen as the 3 episodes..............
