Bordeaux midfielder Fernando is expecting Valenciennes to provide a stern test of their Ligue 1 title credentials tomorrow night.
Les Girondins visit the Stade Nungesser level on points with Marseille at the top of the table and will start their match knowing how their title rivals have fared against Nice earlier in the day.
Brazilian Fernando is warning against over-confidence against a Valenciennes side currently 13th in the table and unlikely to fall into the relegation scrap which lies beneath them.
He told www.ligue1.com: "Valenciennes are really difficult to play against at the Nungesser.
"We know what's lying in wait for us over there.
"Some players like (Johan) Audel want to put themselves in the shop window. He gave us the runaround last season and played brilliantly against Lyon.
"Our intention is to go there and not concede a goal and then take our chances, even if we only get one clear sight of goal.''
Fernando is relishing being involved in such a thrilling end to the season.
"This season is exciting,'' he added.
"It's a real duel for the title. Unfortunately it has come late in my career.
"I'm 28 now and I would have loved to have been involved in moments such as this when I was 20.''
The visitors will have defender Marc Planus back from suspension while Henrique and Jussie are also fit.
Coach Laurent Blanc must decide whether to start with Argentinian striker Fernando Cavenaghi or keep him on the bench.
Valenciennes beat seven-time defending champions Lyon 2-0 last time out with Audel grabbing both goals.
But their hopes of building on that result have been hampered by Slovakia striker Filip Sebo breaking a wrist in training on Sunday.
Top scorer Gregory Pujol is also absent with a calf strain.
